Identity Crisis

It is any Saturday nite
Let's make it 8:30
We head out for dinner
Mary and Joe
Johnny and me
When we order our dinner
Miraculously
We suddenly lose our identity
The waiter comes back
with our orders
Joe says I'm roast beef
Mary says I'm shrimp salad
Johnny becomes the broiled fish
But when we leave
and are taking our walk
we all get our identity back
The roast is now Joe
The shrimp salad is Mary
The broiled fish is Johnny
and me
Well, I'm just me

Haiku

Aventura Florida

in the marina
boats restless
in the rippling waters

in the garden
salamanders hopping
leaf to leaf

sunbathers at the pool
slathered in lotions
glistening

standing majestically
royal palms
guard the road

keepsakes . . .
with each look
a memory
