Subject: [TheOutlawPoets] Sketchbook kudos and cover art
Kudos again to Karina Klesko and John Daleiden for another wonderful
issue of Sketchbook.
The material is always interesting and importantly (for me),
well-organized. I love how I can find a piece by author, genre and just
perusing the contents page (with its own artwork!)
The cover painting by Betty Kaplan is exquisite and has the feel of
Spring blooming into Summer.
Of especial interest to me was the article by Jayne Kaplan on the art of
Gustav Klimt which has been on exhibit since October 2007 at the Neue
Gallery in New York and which has been one of the pivotal experiences in
my life.
The portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer actually shimmers with gold leaf and
was sold to Ronald Lauder at the highest price ever paid for a
painting - 135,000 USD.
