chasing flies
with a pulp magazine—
sunday noon
New York Times puzzle --
a spider in the words
reading in bed—
the irritating buzz-buzz
of a mosquito
love letters
hidden in the basement—
out comes a beetle
world poetry anthology—
the woodworm went through it all
evening hours
in the library—
a cockroach roams

A Hat Tumbles
Max Verhart, NL
and Betty Kaplan, US
storm alert -
through the street
a hat tumbles
the wind blows a big blue ball
back and forth
sailing race
the roundness of all
spinnakers
at the old mill,
we stop to watch the
water wheel turning
rusted weathercock
doesn't know east from west
the pendulum swings
and the hands go around
. . . daylight
