Hi, Karina:
Last year, Leslie Uyeda approached me about incorporating one
of my haiku into a piece of music she was composing. I readily
said yes. Well, she contacted me in February and invited me to
hear it. It will be held in Vancouver and I've included the
details below. I'm very pleased. I also won Honorable Mention
in the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Contest.
April 5 Sunday 2-3pm - UNDER
HEAVEN'S DOME, Sounds of Haiku - a
celebration of words and music. World premiere of Leslie’s
Uyeda’s new
composition of festival 2008 winning haiku in a magical
moveable concert in
the Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park. Puccini’s
“Flower Duet”
and “The Humming Chorus” from Madama Butterfly and other songs
will
also be included. Featuring: Heather Pawsey, soprano; Barbara
Towell,
mezzo-soprano; and highly respected musicians Leslie Uyeda,
piano;
Kathryn Cernauskas, flute; and Sue Round, cello.
