Elena Naskova,

Haiku

carols singing
she borrows my fingers
to add three and four

emptiness
the light makes it
through the fog

empty cobweb
he tells me he’s
leaving me

night calm
my shadow wanders through
the empty streets

another day
another boat slips
over the horizon

stealing roses
the rusty smell
of my blood

Shifting sands—
the stork
switches legs

stuck in the
revolving doors …
graduation day

waxing crescent moon
orange outlines over
the dark mountains

peaks of clouds—
my feet dangling
off the edge

silent forgiveness—
washing the mud off
the ripe strawberry

h
to the top
