In the Autumn

Golden leaves drape around worn park bench legs
like lofty dreams are bound.
Noble goals cannot astound
till they drift back to the ground.

*Englyn: "Englyn (plural englynion) is a traditional Welsh and Cornish short poem form. It uses quantitative metres, involving the counting of syllables, and rigid patterns of rhyme and half rhyme. Each line contains a repeating pattern of consonants and accent known as cynghanedd" (Wikipedia).

**Brevette: "The Brevette, created (in 2007) by Emily Romano, consists of a subject (noun), verb, and object (noun), in this exact order. The verb (line 2) should show an ongoing action. This is done by spacing out the letters in the verb. There are only three words in the poem, giving it the title Brevette. Each of the three words may have any number of syllables, but it is desirable that the poem have balance in the choice of these words. Unlike haiku, there are no other rules to follow" (Shadow Poetry).
